Pais Paisa is a story of illusions, reality and what it means to be Colombian. The film tells the story of an imaginary country called Pais Paisa in South America. The protagonist is Emiliano, a guy in his late twenties who visits the fictitious country for the first time looking for his roots. As he travels through its towns, Emiliano is constantly faced with realities that are not always what they seem. He also meets Manuela, an attractive hotel employee who catches his eye immediately. The movie has many surprises that are impossible to predict with just one viewing. In the end, Pais Paisa is a country that exists in reality as well as in the imagination.The debut feature from acclaimed director Julián Díaz Espinosa, Pais Paisa is a piece of magical realism.
